Alumni, Faculty Artists Support Annual Auction
Nov. 6, 2012
Faculty members and alumni donated artworks of their own creation for the 19th annual All the Arts for all the Kids Foundation auction, which attracted about 600 arts supporters for an evening of silent and live auction bidding.
The popular fall event held Oct. 20 in the Fullerton Museum Plaza raised an estimated $60,000 for music, dance, theater and visual arts lessons for students attending Fullerton elementary schools.
Dorte Christjansen and Don Lagerberg, emeritus professors of art; James Dahl, assistant professor of art; art education lecturers Kay Devine and Melanie Vogel; plus graduates Lauralyn Eschner '92, coordinator of visual and performing arts for the Fullerton School District; Marsha Judd '82; José Lozano '83, '85, '88; and Steve Metzger '81, '83, '86 donated their paintings, sculptures and other works of art created for the auction for the benefit of young artists. All are regular supporters of the event.
Lagerberg created one of the table-top heart sculptures that have become signature pieces of the annual auction and was the subject of fierce bidding. Lozano turned a lampshade into a colorful canvas that was another of the auction's sought-after pieces.
Along with donating their art for the auction, Eschner, one of the event coordinators, Judd and Vogel also serve on the board of directors for the nonprofit foundation.
