Beverly Garland Hotel

Among the speakers:
Lucy Jones, seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and visiting research associate at the Seismological Laboratory at Caltech, will give the keynote address.

"I believe this event will prove beneficial to the insurance industry as a whole, to educate and prepare our industry for a reality that comes with living and working in earthquake country," said Weili Lu, director of the Center for Insurance Studies. "Our agenda reflects this theme of preparation — from the keynote presentation about the risks of living in a seismically active area, to our panel discussions on the specific challenges for insurers and risk managers. In addition, the program allows students from our university to interact with working professionals, as well as learn about the major issues affecting the industry."
- "Lessons Learned From Earthquakes: Modeling, Regulation and Risk Management"
- "Earthquake Challenges: Insurer and Reinsurer Response"
- "The Pre-Earthquake Challenge of Acquiring Adequate Commercial Earthquake Insurance: A Brokerage Perspective"
The program will conclude with "The Post-Earthquake Challenge: Putting Plans Into Action From the Claims Perspective," presented by Jeff Casillas, vice president of claims, FM Global.
