Amani Makes UN Presentation
Aug. 29, 2012
Elahe Amani, director of technology services for student affairs, recently gave a video briefing on the issue of stoning to the United Nations Human Rights Council. Previously, Amani served on a global panel talking about banning the practice of stoning, at a UN Commission on the Status of Women, and she attends commission meetings annually.
A member of the campus community since 1999, Amani has been an organizer of statewide conferences, served as a chair of the Coalition of Women From Asia and the Middle East and a member of the board of the Women’s Intercultural Network. She is an inaugural recipient of Cal State Long Beach’s Lillian Robles Award for her efforts in community service and feminist activism.
