Mark Covert Cross Country Classic Set for Sept. 1

Annual Event Named for Legendary Titan Distance Runner

Aug. 27, 2012

The Titan cross country team will have its first showing of the season at the Mark Covert Classic in Carbon Canyon Park in Brea.

Formerly called the Fullerton Season Opener, the classic was renamed this year after legendary Titan distance runner Mark Covert who won the NCAA College Division individual championship in 1970 and led the Titans to a team title in 1971.

Covert currently holds the American record for most consecutive days running at least a mile: more than 15,000 days or almost 44 years. More information and a video with Covert are available on the Athletics website.
