New Associate Deans Appointed

Jesse F. Battan, professor of American studies, was appointed interim associate dean of administration in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, effective Aug. 19. Battan joined the campus in 1980 and served as department chair from 1998 to the beginning of this academic year. Battan succeeds Sheryl Fontaine, who was named acting dean of the college.
Stephan Walk, professor of kinesiology, was appointed associate dean in the College of Health and Human Development, effective Aug. 12. Walk has served the campus community for 19 years, most recently as chair of the Kinesiology Department. He will serve as secretary of the Academic Senate in addition to his new position in the college. Walk succeeds Kathy Koser, who has retired.
Jenny Zhang, professor of information system and decision sciences, was appointed acting associate dean for administration in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, effective Aug. 21. She joined the university in 2004 and has been serving as the program adviser for the online B.A. in business administration degree completion program. Zhang succeeds KIm Tarantino, who returned to teaching after serving three years.
