Cello, Jazz Kick off December Concerts
Annual ‘Deck The Hall’ Performances Wrap up Series

The Cello Choir performs Dec. 6.
Cal State Fullerton’s Cello Choir and the Fullerton Jazz Orchestra will perform Dec. 6, kicking off the Music Department's December concerts. The Cello Choir, directed by Bongshin Ko, cellist and professor of music, will perform in the Recital Hall and the Jazz Orchestra, directed by Grammy Award-winner Bill Cunliffe, professor of music, will perform in Meng Concert Hall, both in Clayes Performing Arts Center on campus. Both concerts begin at 8 p.m.
Members of the Cello Choir include CSUF students and select high school students, 16 and older, who audition to be part of the ensemble. And, members of the Jazz Orchestra are CSUF music students. The jazz concert will feature guest artist Henry Allen, an award-winning tenor saxophone player.
The rest of December’s concerts, held at 8 p.m. in Meng Concert Hall, unless otherwise noted below:
- Dec. 7: The Symphonic Winds Ensemble, directed by Mitchell Fennell, will perform music by William Schuman, Kenneth Alford, Richard Wagner, Gustav Holst and Percy Grainger, as well as Russian Christmas music.
- Dec. 12: Fullerton Jazz Big Band and Fullerton Latin Ensemble, directed by Cunliffe, performs its award-winning music.
- 3 and 8 p.m. Dec. 14 and 4 p.m. Dec. 15: Conductors Robert Istad, Christopher Peterson and Kimo Furumoto will direct the University Singers, Concert Choir, Titan Men's Chorus, Women's Choir and the University Symphony Orchestra in the annual “Deck the Hall” concerts, featuring holiday music.
