Sept. 25, 2013

The Buena Park School District has awarded $450,069 to Cal State Fullerton in support of the After School Education and Safety Program.

The collaborative effort between the district and the University's Center for Internships and Community Engagement reaches nearly 600 first- to eighth-grade youth, offering classroom instruction to enhance reading comprehension and critical thinking skills, as well as homework assistance and a variety of enrichment activities.

“The program provides CSUF students with paid positions, academic internships, service-learning and volunteer opportunities. Even some campus organizations participate,” said Dawn Macy, director of the university’s Center for Internships and Community Engagement.
