Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Student Scholarships
Annual Mihaylo College Classic Included Contests and Auctions
Sept. 12, 2013
Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics grossed approximately $120,000 in support of student scholarships and services, at its 19th annual Golf Classic in June.
University and Business Honors student-turned-alum Briana Vu, who graduated magna cum laude in May, expressed words of gratitude for the scholarship support she received as a result of such fundraising events.
"I came to Cal State Fullerton without financial aid. With limited funds saved from summer jobs, a majority of the costs fell on my parents," she explained. "With your support, I have been able to cover the cost of tuition and books without having the burden of debt."
The tournament also featured a putting competition, a Hole-In-One car contest sponsored by Land Rover Jaguar Ventura, a Tatratea tasting for all golfers and a Beat-the-Pro contest with former LPGA Tour player Kate Hughes.
Golfers also were able to participate in both a live and silent auction featuring Angels baseball tickets, spa packages, hot air balloon rides and wine tasting events.
Helpmates Staff Services sponsored the sold-out tournament. Additional sponsors included: Bogart Insurance Brokers, Crexendo, Pacific Premier Bank, R.D Olson Construction, Southern Counties Lubricants, Vinyl Technologies, White Nelson Diehl & Evans and Wood Gutmann.
