Dec. 17, 2013

As part of final projects in the “New Venture Creation and Funding” and “New Venture Launch” classes, student teams presented business concepts before a group of judges — new venture capitalists, bankers, company CEOs and business professors — much like the television program “Shark Tank.” The team presenting the best business pitch from each class earned an A and a scholarship.
The winning venture creation team — computer engineering major Hayden Donze and business administration-entrepreneurship majors Tom Kelly, Ty Martell and Wilfred Batas — presented “Head Games,” a concept that creates software allowing video game developers to customize games to adapt to the user’s brain activity.
The winning venture launch team of business administration-entrepreneurship majors Monica Gutierrez, Nora Nevarez, Brandon Chung, and Christina Estrada presented “Momma’s Bistro,” a restaurant concept that fuses Italian and Mexican cuisine.
The scholarships were provided by Union Bank and NCH Wealth Advisors.
