Osher Lifelong Learning Offers Jazz and Other Performances

Cal State Fullerton's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) offers a series of free, public musical performances from Jan. 11 through April 17.
Jazz Series at Steamer's, a collaboration between OLLI and the popular Fullerton jazz venue, features live music performances and a discussion about the history of the genre and a particular theme. Children are welcome. The Saturday 12:30-2:30 p.m. programs are held at Steamer's Jazz Club & Café, 138 E. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, 92832. The schedule:
Jan. 11 – "Cotton Club"
Feb. 8 – "Tin Pan Alley"
March 8 – "South Central Ave., Los Angeles"
April 12 – "The Beatles and the Blues"
The Musical Performances series showcases the talents of musicians, vocalists and dancers within OLLI and the members of the CSUF Music Department. Performances are held from 2:25-3:45 p.m. Jan. 28, Feb. 11 and 25, March 11 and 25, and April 15 in the CSUF Ruby Gerontology Center's Mackey Auditorium, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831.
OLLI Follies showcases music, dance, poetry, stories and skits performed by OLLI members. Performances are 2:15-3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 13, March 13 and April 17 in CSUF's Ruby Gerontology Center's Mackey Auditorium, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831.
On-campus parking is $8 for a daily permit Monday through Friday. Parking is free after 5 p.m. Friday and on weekends. Details are available online.
OLLI, a self-supporting university support group of more than 1,300 retired and semiretired individuals dedicated the pursuit of lifelong learning, celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2014.
