Spotlight: Join Us at Concert Under the Stars
Sept. 17, 2013
A fireworks display will light up the night during Concert Under the Stars.
Students and alumni are perfecting their routines for Saturday’s Concert Under the Stars. Thousands of campus and community members are expected to attend the open-air dining, lively musical entertainment and fireworks spectacular on the lawn north of Titan Gymnasium. The event starts at 5 p.m., with the concert at 8 p.m.
Proceeds benefit student scholarships and programs.
The program, “I Believe in Music,” will feature the University's popular performing group The Preeminents, as well as alumni, whose credits include Broadway and national touring productions. Taking the stage for their alma mater will be Brooke Aston, Jennifer Hubilla, Erin McNally, Emily Mitchell, Louis Pardo, Kate Peters and Brad Standley and Kirsten Vangsness, plus College of the Arts faculty members Eve Himmelheber and Mitch Hanlon.
Among the student performers this year is Keaton Williams, who has been nominated for a 2012-13 Ovation Award for Lead Actor in a Musical for his performance as The Velociraptor of Innocence in “Triassic Parq: The Musical” at the Chance Theater.
“This event is like a taste of Cal State Fullerton ... a good way to see what the students can do,” said alumnus Gary Green ’80 (B.A. business administration-finance), chair of the Concert Under the Stars Community Committee.
It's not too late to reserve seats, which range from $25 to $300 per seat, or tables online. Free lawn seating is available, thanks to underwriting by Kaiser Permanente and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. Attendees may bring their own picnic dinners and beverages. Food and drink also can be purchased from food trucks at the event. No outside alcoholic beverages are permitted on campus.
