Spotlight: Welcome to the New School Year!

The new academic year kicked off this month with more than 37,000 students enrolled in classes, President García’s convocation address stressing student success, new degree programs, 32 new faculty members and 141 new staff members.
Also new: the University has purchased the entire Banting Corporate Center, where it had been leasing space for the CSUF Irvine Campus; a transfer agreement with Irvine Valley and Saddleback Community Colleges is expected to increase the number of lower-division students attending classes in Irvine; in the main campus residence halls, the University has opened a Community Resource Center staffed by University Police and community service officers; a new Starbucks opened in the Pollak Library; and smoking on campus now is banned.
