Funding Cuts for Undergrad Programs, Research Trouble APLU

Cal State Fullerton President Mildred García was quoted in a story about this week's annual meeting of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, which tackled an ambitious agenda focused on how to address the challenges that beset public education.
“We have to start thinking out of the box,” says García, who serves on the organization's board of directors and helped to pioneer an outreach program for Spanish-speaking families with Univision when she was president of Cal State Dominguez Hills. The program introduces Latino parents to the college admissions process when their children are in elementary school. “We have to go into the community and educate families and help them understand the system," she said.
