HACU Highlights CSU Latino, Veteran Success

California State University leaders and students gathered to discuss issues impacting Latinos in higher education at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) annual conference in Chicago Oct. 26-28. Hundreds of attendees represented the CSU, including 10 campus presidents and Chancellor Timothy P. White.

Highlights included a keynote address by Chancellor White and a panel on Latino education leadership featuring Cal State Fullerton President Mildred García. Cal State L.A. President Emeritus James M. Rosser also received HACU’s Lifelong Leadership Award.

Other Titans active mentioned in the coverage of this year’s meeting included CSUF Veteran Certifying Official Brenda Estrada and CSU Fullerton student presenters Karina Cortez and Miguel Ramirez, who discussed how CSUF’s veteran center has helped them overcome the unique challenges they face as both Latino first-generation college students and veterans.
