Music Concerts Scheduled Through Oct. 29

What:

CSUF music students and faculty members and featured artists, including pianist Eduardo Delgado, the University Wind Symphony and the faculty jazz group this month kicked off concerts that continue through Oct. 29.

Where:

Clayes Performing Arts Center, Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd.

Upcoming performances:

  • Oct. 18, 8 p.m., Meng Concert Hall — Fullerton Jazz Orchestra and Big Band, featuring the music of Ellington and Gershwin.
  • Oct. 19, 8 p.m., Recital Hall — Liederabend with guest pianist Michael Schütze, featuring music by Schumann, Wolf and Sondheim, performed by CSUF’s advanced vocal students.
  • Oct. 19, 8 p.m., Meng Concert Hall — Music Professor Mitchell J. Fennell conducts the Symphonic Winds, performing music by Shostakovich, Strauss, Nelhybel and Bagley.
  • Oct. 20, 4 p.m., Meng Concert Hall — Kimo Furumoto, associate professor of music, directs the University Symphony Orchestra, featuring the music of Beethoven, Dukas, Wagner and Tchaikovsky.
  • Oct. 26, 8 p.m. Meng Concert Hall — Robert Istad, associate professor, and Christopher W. Peterson, professor of music, direct the University Singers and Concert Choir, featuring music by Nico Muhly, Gustav Holst,  Giovanni Gabrieli, Craig Hella Johnson, George Frideric Handel, Ola Gjeilo, Ivan Hrusovsky, Felix Mendelssohn, Eric Whitacre, R. Scott Coulter, Gerald Custer and Barrington Brooks.
  • Oct. 29, 8 p.m., Meng Concert Hall — Music faculty members and guest musicians Judy Huang on piano and Yuri Inoo on percussion present Divan Consort, featuring works by American composers, including Walicki, Muczunski and Schikele. Divan Consort is a Los Angeles-based ensemble founded by the Turkish pianist and CSUF faculty artist Füreya Ünal.
