SchoolsFirst Pledges $500,000 to College of Education
Oct. 28, 2013
SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is continuing its longstanding support of Cal State Fullerton and the College of Education by pledging a new naming gift of $500,000. Claire C. Cavallaro, dean of the College of Education, announced the pledge at the college's Autumn Awards Dessert Reception Oct. 24 before an audience of scholarship donors, student scholarship recipients and educators.
The gift will provide ongoing support for the SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union Center for Creativity and Critical Thinking. SchoolsFirst's inaugural support for the center came in 2009 with a $250,000 gift.
"Thanks to SchoolsFirst, over the past five years, the center has become a premier educational hub for the development, evaluation and dissemination of innovative educational approaches that infuse the arts, technology and science as central components of an integrated curriculum," Cavallaro said.
The annual Autumn Awards program honored the college's scholarship donors and recipients. This year, 64 scholarships were awarded to future teachers, totaling $57,700 — the highest amount and number of scholarships awarded by the college in a single year.
