Tucker Offers California Native American Workshop

Mark Mendez, a member of the Chumash Tribe, will conduct a free California Native American workshop for teachers Oct. 5 at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.
A free California Native American workshop for teachers will be offered Saturday, Oct. 5, at CSUF's Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary. The 9 a.m.-3 p.m. educational event will use "Island of the Blue Dolphin," a 1960 children's book written by Scott O'Dell, as a focus to introduce the tools and resources used by Native Americans.
Hands-on cultural activities designed to enhance classroom presentations and information on lesson plans will be provided. Registration is requested and may be made by visiting the Tucker website or by calling 714-649-2760. Sempra Energy is sponsoring the workshop. Tucker is located at 29322 Modjeska Canyon Road in Silverado.
