Mark Perakh, emeritus lecturer in physics, died May 7 following a brief illness. He was 88 years old. A Russian emigrant who taught in both the Soviet Union and Israel before coming to the United States, he worked as a research scientist in private industry before joining Cal State Fullerton, said Mark Shapiro, emeritus professor of physics. Perakh taught on campus for nine years before retiring in 1994. The physicist continued to write and give presentations, returning to Russia in 2001 to deliver four papers at Tver State University and authored "Unintelligent Design," published in 2003 by Prometheus Books. He is survived by his wife, Valentina.
