Twain Scholar to Discuss Her Latest Book

Pitzer College President Laura Skandera Trombley will be the guest speaker at the Feb. 2 Patrons of the Pollak Library meeting.
Trombley will discuss her fifth book, "Mark Twain's Other Woman: The Hidden Story of His Final Years," published in 2010 by Knopf.
The fifth president of Pitzer College, Trombley is a noted Twain scholar who as a graduate student discovered the largest known cache of Twain letters. She appeared in Ken Burns' 2001 documentary about the American author and humorist. In addition to her scholarly articles on Twain, Trombley has written on issues affecting U.S. higher education and is a member of the Chronicle of Higher Education/New York Times Higher Education Cabinet, the Council of Presidents of the Association of Governing Boards, and the Council on Foreign Relations Higher Education Working Group on Global Issues. She earned a doctorate in English from USC, as well as a master's degree in English and bachelor's degree in English and humanities from Pepperdine University.
