Poll: Community Supports Vietnamese Programs
July 19 2013
Cal State Fullerton's "Vietnamese Community Education Night" drew 200 people in Garden Grove July 17 to hear educators, elected officials and members of the Vietnamese American Education Advisory Council speak at length of the development of CSUF's Vietnamese language and teaching programs. The council has been gathering input from residents of Westminster, Garden Grove and nearby cities, and a majority of the 1,156 people polled support Vietnamese language classes in K-12 schools and in college, said Natalie A. Tran, assistant professor of secondary education and council co-chair. Poll respondents also would support training teachers to teach Vietnamese, she said.
