Founding Professor Gives $100,000 Donation

July 17, 2013

Lawrence B. de Graaf, professor emeritus of history, is donating $100,000 to support the University's Center for Oral and Public History Capital Initiative project. De Graaf, a founding faculty member who conducted a number of COPH oral histories over the last five decades, said he has been thinking of making a donation since 2011 when the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded CSUF a $425,000 challenge grant for the relocation and expansion of the COPH. “It's a thrill to give funds for this objective,” de Graaf said. “This is the program I have the most affection for. Some of my most memorable academic projects have been associated with oral history.”
