Business Incubator Becomes Classroom
Entrepreurial Management Course Offers Mihaylo Students Real World Experience
July 23, 2013
This fall, students in lecturer David Obstfeld's upper-division Entrepreneurial Management course will have the opportunity to feel what its like to work in a business incubator as they attend classes surrounded by individuals beginning the career path they will soon be joining. The course will be team taught by Michael Sawitz, entrepreneur, investor and founder of the start-up incubator, FastStart.studio.
Last spring, students in the course met once in the incubator "and their excitement was palpable," said Obstfeld. "We realized that the best way to give students real world experience is to meet in the real world.
"This fall, we will have student teams partner with actual FastStart.studio startups," said Obstfeld. "It should be a mutually beneficial situation — the students get great experience and the entrepreneurs get valuable research developed for them from the students. We're really excited."
