Public Invited to Comment on University Police
Accreditation Officials Seek Input on Campus Law Enforcement

Campus and community members are invited to attend and provide comments at a 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, public meeting on Cal State Fullerton's University Police Department.
The session is being conducted by a team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Inc. as part of the reaccreditation process for the campus law enforcement agency. The assessment team is seeking input in four areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

Comments are limited to 10 minutes each and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA's standards. A copy of the standards is available at the University Police Department. To request a copy, or more information, call Debbie Ellis, 657-278-4814.
In addition to the public hearing, additional comments may be made by calling 657-278-4775 between 9 and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. All comments will be heard directly by members of the assessment team.

The meeting and phone sessions are part of the accreditation process for University Police, which in 2001, became the first police department in the CSU to be accredited by the commission. Reaccreditations are conducted every three years.
