CSU, UC Hold Conference on Shared Services
July 19, 2013
Staff members from the California State University and University of California recently met to discuss shared services, or merging similar services like finance, legal and human resources within an organization.
The practice is common in the private sector and gaining ground throughout public agencies to maximize efficiency and innovation. One such example: Since last fall, Cal State Fullerton staff members have been working with Cal State Bakersfield on the Northern California campus' student housing project.
Although they were varied based on the service, the stage and the system, the conference's presentations and discussions illustrated the most meaningful result to come from sharing services in higher education – the cost savings go back to students. More information available online.
