Math Circle Student Scores in International Olympiad

Cal State Fullerton Math Circle student Bryan Brzycki competed in the seventh International Olympiad of Astrophysics and Astronomy July 27-Aug. 5 in Greece, scoring the highest for the U.S. team, which finished 11th of 39 teams. Brzycki, 17, of Troy High School was among more than 180 high school students from around the globe who participated. Math faculty members Bogdan Suceavă, Scott Annin, Zair Ibragimov and Armando Martinez-Cruz mentored the young mathematician. Brzycki also scored in the top 40 in the spring USA Mathematical Olympiad, resulting in the Mathematical Association of America presenting a "Commendation of Excellence" to CSUF.
