O.C. businesses paying less for audits

A recent study by Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Corporate Reporting and Governance found that the average corporate audit fees charged in Orange County are lower than the rest of the United States.

The three-month study examined fees auditors charged to 96 Orange County public companies, more than half of which are listed on a major U.S. stock exchange. It found that median audit fees for county firms had decreased from $605,000 in 2008 to $437,500 in 2012.

“This surprised me because you think of Orange County being pricier,” said Vivek Mande, director of Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Corporate Reporting and Governance and a professor of accounting. Continue reading the full article  online .
