Bike Share Program Gets Off the Ground
Jan. 15, 2014
Bicycles like these are now available for campus members to use through a program coordinated by the Orange County Transportation Authority and city of Fullerton.
The stands are installed, the bikes have arrived and now Cal State Fullerton students, faculty and staff members will be able to 'share the ride' through a new program coordinated through the Orange County Transportation Authority and the city of Fullerton.
For just $5, faculty, staff and students can try the program now. An annual membership fee is available for $45 for students and $75 for the regular membership.
Under this venture, participants who have purchased a membership can access bicycles via a card-activation system at each solar-powered docking station. When riders reach their destination, such as the CSUF campus, they will be able to check in the bicycle and check out another when they are ready to leave. If the ride is less than 30 minutes in length, the cost is free.
Campus bike stands are located near Langsdorf Hall, Titan Gym and two locations at student housing. Off-campus locations are located in Fullerton at city hall, the transportation center, First Christian Church, the SOCO parking structure, Fullerton College and the College Plaza Shopping Center. There are locations in Anaheim, as well.
Campus members who purchase an annual membership by Feb. 14 will be entered in a drawing for prizes.
