Program Helps High School Latinas Prepare for College
June 19, 2014
Cal State Fullerton will host about 30 Latina high school juniors tomorrow (June 20) as part of the HOPE Youth Leadership program.
The daylong program is offered by Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, a nonprofit organization that focuses on leadership, advocacy and education for Hispanic women. The Leadership Program, offered on campus for the second time, is designed to prepare low-income, high school-age Latinas for a self-sufficient future that will allow for economic and political parity through a college education.
Presenters, many of whom are Cal State Fullerton staff members, will help students develop an academic action plan. Following the conference, participating students will be joined by their advisers and parents at a reception.
