Model UN Team Wins Delegation Award at National Conference

Mario Henein Brings Home Outstanding Delegate Honor

April 22, 2014

Cal State Fullerton's Model United Nations team returned from this month's national conference in New York with a Distinguished Delegation Award for the team's efforts.

More than 5,000 university students from throughout the world were part of the two-session conference in which students participate in simulations as delegates to various UN committees. Participating students research and formulate positions based on actual policies of the countries they represent.

Cal State Fullerton's team, under the direction of Choudhury Shamin, professor of political science, competed as the delegation from Algeria. In addition to the delegation award, Mario Henein of Yorba Linda, a senior political science major, won an Outstanding Delegate in Committee award, representing Algeria on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization during the simulation.
