College of Education faculty members Cynthia S. Gautreau, left, and Michelle Vander Veldt Brye are coordinating a program at Richman Elementary School this week to promote STEM education.
Teacher credential students and College of Education faculty members are offering a weeklong chemistry program through June 6 for students at Richman Elementary School in Fullerton.
The "STEM Pipeline Program," which targets fourth-grade students to foster interest and participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields, is led by Cynthia S. Gautreau and Michelle Vander Velt Brye, both associate professors of elementary and bilingual education. The STEM Pipeline Program was funded by CSUF's Catalyst Center and Center for Internships and Community Engagement.
Gautreau and Vander Velt Brye also lead a math program at the school in which CSUF elementary credential students provide support to children experiencing difficulty with mathematics skills.
