New Campus Appointments for Spring

Several acting chairs/department heads and an interim associate vice president for student affairs have been announced for the spring semester.
Roger Sorochty, formerly vice president for enrollment and student services at the University of Tulsa, has been named interim associate vice president for student affairs, student retention, effective Jan. 13. Sorochty will oversee the Career Center; Athletic Academic, Veteran Student, Student Academic and Disability Support services; the Center for Internships and Community Engagement; the Student Health and Counseling Center; Counseling and Psychological Services; and the Guardian, President's and Future Scholars programs.
Laurinda Fuller, formerly director of procurement and financial services at Cal State Long Beach, was appointed director of internal audit, effective Feb. 24.
Acting department chairs and their terms of appointment are:
David J. Cheng — acting chair of Electrical Engineering from Dec. 24, 2013, through May 23
Stephen J. Mexal — acting chair of English, Comparative Literature and Linguistics from Jan. 15 through Aug. 17
Jennifer Ponder — acting chair of Elementary and Bilingual Education from Jan. 6 through May 31
Carter Rakovski — acting chair of Sociology from Jan. 16 through May 23
Douglas Swanson — acting chair of Communications Jan. 1 through Aug. 17
