Dance Faculty Member On the Move

Alvin Rangel, assistant professor of theatre and dance, is trekking across the country and the globe to guest teach and perform, and finish up by receiving an award for outstanding work in dance performance.
Rangel, who teaches modern dance, ballet, improvisation and dance composition, will be in Puerto Rico April 1-7 to guest teach at three professional dance companies. He'll head to Austin, Texas, April 23 and New York April 26-27 as a guest artist and dancer with Dance Theatre X at the Fusebox Festival. While in New York, Rangel be recognized with the "Fruit of Distinction Award" from the Fresh Fruit Festival for his work during the 2013 festival.
The dancer will again be traveling this summer, teaching at an institute for an Afro-contemporary dance theatre for dancers, artists and scholars at the University of Texas, Austin, as part of a Doris Duke Charitable Foundation grant. In July, he travels to Deltebre, Spain, to participate in a dance program with international artists.
