OLLI President Presents at National Conference
July 31, 2014
Michael Stover, president of OLLI, will present “Building Relationships on Campus and in the Community” at the annual conference of the Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education in Minneapolis.
Michael Stover, president of Cal State Fullerton's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, will deliver a presentation at the Aug. 10-12 Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education conference at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Stover's presentation, "Building Relationships on Campus and in the Community," offers a case study of the University's OLLI organization, as well as OLLI models used elsewhere in the nation.
"The volunteer-based model of lifelong learning instruction continues to be of extraordinary interest to other organizations," explained Stover. "Our model extends the principle of volunteer support activities to the actual instruction of classes." He said the joy of teaching topics of their choice to appreciative lifelong learners has been more than enough compensation for OLLI instructors throughout the organization's 35-year presence on campus.
This year marks the 35th anniversary for OLLI, a self-supporting University affiliate group of more than 1,500 retired and semiretired individuals dedicated to lifelong learning.
