Selbo to Speak to County Screenwriters

Other Recent Faculty Presentations

Sept. 5, 2014

Radio-TV-film professor Jule Selbo will deliver a talk on "Film Genre for the Screenwriter" at the Sept. 13 Orange County Screenwriters Association meeting. The title of the talk is the same as her recently published book, which is a practical study of how classic film genre components can be used in the construction of a screenplay, by student and professional screenwriters alike.

Selbo is one of several faculty members who are or have recently delivered papers and talks at professional organizations. The others are:

Michael LaCour-Little , acting chair and professor of finance and co-director of the Real Estate and Land Use Institute, spoke Aug. 13 on "Perspectives on the Mortgage and Financial Crisis: Five Years Later" at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

At the American Sociological Association's 109th annual meeting in San Francisco:
Carter Rakovski , associate professor of sociology, was a co-presenter of "Is There a Penalty for Caring? Careers of Men in Caring Occupations Versus Male-Dominated Occupations"
Siobhan Brooks , assistant professor of African American studies, discussed "Out of My Mind: Black Lesbian and Transgender Women, Homophobia and Mental Health"
Maria Estela Zarate , associate professor of education, co-presented "Sixth Grade Teachers' Perceptions of the College Bound Student"
