CSUF panel looks at the dilemma of uninformed voters

The state might be better off if fewer uninformed votes were cast, but that doesn’t mean stupid voters should be banned from the polls, according to a panel of political and elections experts who discussed the voting process at Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday.
“We tend to think the stupid people are those who don’t vote the way we do,” said Stephen Stambough, chairman of the university’s Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice.
Political science professor Paul Peretz noted that the state’s initiative system, established in 1911 to give voters the ability to bypass the Legislature, has led to many ballot measures that average voters don’t find time to fully understand.
