CSUF Soccer Star Gjonovich Still Looking for Ways to Help Others

Adriana Gjonovich thought her Cal State Fullerton soccer career was over when she played her last match on Nov. 14, 2014.

That wasn’t the case, though.

In July, the kinesiology major with a minor in pre-health professions was selected as the Big West Conference’s nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.

“It was definitely going out with a bang. It kind of kept the student-athlete in me alive,” Gjonovich said.

She says she was pretty surprised about the selection. But for the Cal State Fullerton Athletics staff, it wasn’t quite a shocker.

Gjonovich was Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014, was all-conference for academics two times and made the dean’s list seven times, and CSUF Athletics Director Jim Donovan called her accomplishments “all really impressive.”

She also read to children in school as part of Titan Tales, he said.

Titan Tales was just the tip of the iceberg.
