Titan Alumnus, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon to Focus on Education
Nov. 2, 2015
Two-time Cal State Fullerton graduate Anthony Rendon says as the new house speaker he’ll prioritize education and focus on increased funding for early childhood education. He’ll also focus on reducing the impact of unhealthy air and water pollution on working-class communities.
Rendon takes the role in January and will be the first Titan to lead the lawmakers. With Senate Pro Tempore Kevin de Leon, both the legislative houses in the nation’s largest state will be led by Latinos for the first time.
Rendon earned a B.A. in political science-public administration in 1982 and an M.A. in political science in ’94 at CSUF, before earning a Ph.D. at UC Riverside and completing postdoctoral work at Boston University. Read the story.
