CSUF Alum’s Art Is Coming to a Car Near You

Professional artist and middle school art teacher Wyn Ericson specializes in landscape art. So when a Facebook message from a friend alerted him of the California State Parks’ license plate art contest, Ericson felt confident in entering the competition.

The contest required participants to design a state parks license plate depicting California redwoods. Entries were judged on creativity, inspiration, reproducibility, legibility and uniqueness.

Ericson, a Cal State Fullerton graduate and a resident of Napa Valley, used his lifelong love of the outdoors as inspiration for his design.

He credits being exposed to nature and wildlife at a young age to his father, who is also an artist.

“We used to go camping a lot,” Ericson, 35, said. “He exposed me to the world of art but also camping. I love being outdoors because of that.”
