Former Titan Wrestlers form SoCal Group to Preserve Wrestling in Area

Former Cal State Fullerton wrestlers Risto Marttinen and Morgan Atkinson recently founded the Southern California chapter of the Wrestlers in Business Network. WIBN is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth and collegiate wrestling, as well as facilitating business-networking opportunities between wrestlers.

Marttinen, who is now assistant professor of kinesiology at Fullerton, is serving as chairman with Atkinson serving as vice chair. The SoCal chapter held its first event on Dec. 4 at the Salt Creek Grille in Dana Point with about 45 people in attendance. Legendary wrestling coach Dan Gable, both an Olympic and NCAA champion, served as the keynote speaker.

The SoCal chapter hosts networking events and speaker series, with the proceeds from ticket sales going toward organizations such as “Beat the Streets” (a Los Angeles non-profit organization that aims to make wrestling accessible to youth in underserved communities).
