CSUF Responds to Facebook Page
Nov. 25, 2015
Berenecea Johnson Eanes, Cal State Fullerton's vice president for student affairs, has issued the following statement:
"The University has discovered that a Facebook page exists for the 'White Student Union' at Cal State Fullerton. The creation of this page was not the work of any officially recognized group at the University, and as we have seen numerous media outlets report, similar pages have been created for other universities nationwide. None of those pages were sanctioned by those campuses.
In response to our request, Facebook has removed the University's logo from the page. We will continue to work with Facebook to also have the name of the University removed from the page.
This webpage is not a serious attempt to acknowledge and celebrate the backgrounds of a particular student population. Instead, it is clearly meant to incite conflict and elude thoughtful discussions about race. The intolerant message advanced by this webpage is contrary to the inclusive and welcoming environment we seek for all Titans.
We will stand against this and any effort that takes aim at our core values, and we will continue to stand up for the amazing, diverse members of our campus community."
