Professor Studies How Diet, Exercise, Stress Are Tied to Anxiety

For the past two years, Cal State Fullerton associate professor of psychology Jennifer Trevitt has been working with rats in a lab, all in the hopes of discerning what makes their anxiety levels rise and fall.

With this research, she hopes to better understand what causes humans' anxiety levels to increase and decrease.

"Stress is killing us, and we need to find a way to effectively manage it if we want to live long, healthy lives," Trevitt said.

Trevitt and a handful of her students began their research by swapping the rodents' diets to one heavily based on omega-6 fatty acids, which are commonly found in processed foods. Continue reading.
