CSUF’s Gianneschi Center Supports the Work of O.C’s Charitable Organizations

Susan Cadwallader is inspired by the way today’s youth regard nonprofit work. More than just giving money, she has found that today’s youth are passionate about giving their time and talent to those in need, she said.

Cadwallader, associate marketing professor at Cal State Fullerton, is director of the university’s Gianneschi Center for Nonprofit Research.

“These millennials are really into the nonprofit sector,” she said, adding that while older generations were focused on making a living and offered monetary donations to nonprofit organizations later in their lives, the youth of today want to be directly involved in nonprofit work.

“I think it’s a generational cycle,” Cadwallader said. “We didn’t have the information they have; they can get involved in a social media campaign without spending a dime.”

Next semester, she will add three student-interns to the growing center — the most important requirement is passion for nonprofit work.
