CSUF President Mildred García has issued the following statement regarding the terrorist attacks in Paris:

“As I watch the events unfolding in Paris, I cannot help but feel the pain and share in the anger that yesterday’s attacks on humanity have generated in our homes, communities, and the world-over.

I join Titans everywhere in keeping all Parisians and those impacted by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers. And while I am thankful that our faculty, students and staff currently in France are all accounted for and safe, my heart sinks at the thought that one of our sister campus communities – Long Beach – has lost one of their students.

Our University is currently reaching out to all of our exchange students and visiting scholars from France to provide any and all assistance that they may require. In addition, we continue to monitor the safety of all members of our campus community that are currently abroad.

As a regional University that prides itself on having a global outlook, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to provide life-enriching opportunities to all of our students, by exposing them to the challenges, the diversity, and the wonders of our world – and in so doing, preparing them to make it a better, safer place.

A vigil is being planned and more information will be provided to the campus community in the coming days.”
