Anthropologists Reveal Findings on Olmec Research
April 10, 2015
Carl Wendt, professor of anthropology, headlines "Recent Research on the Middle Formative Olmec" 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in Room 123 of the Humanities-Social Sciences Building.
Wendt and other researchers and professors from several universities will present data that reveals more about the Olmecs, who preceded the Aztec and Mayan cultures in Mesoamerica. Among the speakers are Alejandra Higueras Cossío, Kotegawa Hirokazu and Henri Bernard, from Mexico's Universidad Veracruzana.
Wendt created the Arroyo Pesquero Archaeological Project, part of a larger research program investigating different Olmec sites along the Gulf of Mexico, where he has been studying the ancient culture for 10 years.
