City Manager in Residence Shares Expertise with Campus Community
April 16, 2015
Jennifer Phillips, city manager of St. Helena
Jennifer Phillips, city manager of St. Helena, will be on campus April 21-22 as the 2015 City Manager in Residence.
Phillips will speak before five public administration classes and will hold two April 22 open events: a 2 p.m. talk in the Career Center in Room 210-G of Langsdorf Hall and a 5:30 p.m. discussion on public service career development in Room 305 of University Hall.
Phillips worked for the cities of Fullerton, Santa Monica and Santa Rosa before becoming city manager of St. Helena, in the heart of Napa Valley. She was a campus lecturer in 2010-11 and has taught several courses offered through University Extended Education.
This is the sixth year that Cal State Fullerton's Division of Politics, Administration and Justice hosts a city manager as part of a partnership with Cal-ICMA — a collaboration of multiple local government organizations. The City Manager-in-Residence Program provides students with an in-depth perspective on local government, as well as an opportunity to interact with a city or county manager while learning about the benefits of government management careers.
