Campus Honor Society Recognized
April 22, 2015
Cal State Fullerton's chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the international scholar honor society made up of both faculty members and students, is being honored with the Eileen Evans Overall Outstanding Chapter Award by the international organization for which there are about 200 chapters.
"The goal of the honor society is to promote a high standard of scholarly achievement in international education," said Dipasri Ghosh, chapter president and lecturer in finance. The campus chapter, established in 1987, sponsors a series of academic and social events, she noted, including receptions for visiting scholars, international film screenings and food receptions, cross-cultural communication workshops, a lecture series, forums and informal coffee socials.
Among the activities sponsored by the chapter this year: an International Women's Day event, including a panel discussion on issues and actions for advancing and recognizing women worldwide; a debate on "Capitalism: A Moral Issue," featuring guest speakers from UCLA and the Ayn Rand Institute Fellow; and a student travel forum where members shared the experiences and the benefits of traveling and studying abroad.
"That's why I am so honored that our very own CSUF chapter is being named Best Chapter! This is truly an accomplishment, as this award serves to increase the visibility of our chapter and Cal State Fullerton on a worldwide scale!"
The award will be presented to Ghosh during the organization's April 23-24 meeting in the Inland Empire. Read more about the award and honor society.
