Cal State Fullerton is partnering in the Green Billion Dollar Challenge, a program begun by the Sustainable Endowments Institute to “encourage colleges, universities and other nonprofit institutions to invest a combined total of one billion dollars in self-managed revolving funds that finance energy efficiency improvements.”

The campus has a history of focusing on sustainable activities across its operations, outlook and curriculum. Examples include the installation of solar panels that generate 1.16 MW of power, as well as charging stations and use of electric vehicles on campus; the construction of a number of buildings that are LEED ranked or LEED equivalent; utilized new lighting fixtures that increase campus visibility while saving energy; and conserving water through low-flow fixtures, planting more drought tolerant plants and utilization of bioswales to capture runoff water.
