Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Offers Free Saturday Lectures

Planning for a rewarding retirement is the focus of a free, public lecture series offered by Cal State Fullerton’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). The Saturday classes provide professional advice on a variety of topics related to transitioning into retirement.

When:

Saturdays, Sept. 12 through Dec. 5
9:30-noon, except Oct. 10 Boot Camp (see below)

Parking is free on weekends in most campus parking lots.

Sept. 12 – “Social Security Essentials” by Jeffrey Rodriguez, public affairs specialist, Social Security Administration

Sept. 19 – “Cleaning Out the Clutter and Hoarding” presented by Penny Lambright, owner, Clutter Cleaners

Sept. 26 – “Navigating Your Financial Future in Retirement” presented by Gary Bowman, certified financial planner, Bowman Financial Services

Oct. 3 – “Advances in the Technology of Radiology” with Tim Joseph, interventional radiologist, St. Jude Medical Center

Oct. 10 —”Retirement Boot Camp 2015: Energizing Your Retirement”

(special time: 8:45 a.m-3 p.m.) The 2015 edition of the OLLI Boot Camp features new speakers and topics that include positive psychology, staying healthy, enhancing social connections, sustainable financial planning and finding meaning in the retirement years. Refreshments include a light lunch. Registration required: Registration opens Sept. 11 and closes Oct. 5.

Oct. 24 – “Medicare Essentials: What You need to Know When Your Sign Up for Benefits” by Susan Zajfen, Education and Outreach Specialist, Council on Aging-Orange County, Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program

Oct. 31 – “Travel Adventures With Road Scholar” presented by Claire McGurn, manager, Ambassador Program and Events, Road Scholar

Nov. 7 – “What’s New in Dentistry” presented by dentist Brooks Larson

Nov. 14 – “It’s in the Cloud” presented by Bob Newcomb, OLLI computer education instructor

Nov. 21 – “The Eyes Have It” by opthalmologist Rajiv Rathod

Dec. 5 – “Preparing for the Big One and More,” with Sue Fisher, emergency management coordinator, Cal State Fullerton
