Fullerton Pitcher Comes Back to Omaha to Fulfill a Lifelong Dream

Tyler Peitzmeier fell in love at the College World Series.

It was 2001, and Peitzmeier was an 8-year-old growing up 30 minutes west of Omaha in the town of Yutan. He was one of the fortunate who jammed into Rosenblatt Stadium to watch Nebraska make its CWS debut.

The Huskers' opponent was Cal State Fullerton, and the Titans spoiled the moment by pulling out a 5-4 victory in what Peitzmeier called "one of the wildest" CWS games he's ever witnessed.

"I still remember the stands were all red, except for this little spot of orange where the Fullerton fans were sitting," Peitzmeier said. "I walked into the stadium as a Husker fan and I walked out wearing a Fullerton hat." Continue reading.
