Another oarfish brought to CSUF for research

Not many people were more thrilled than Misty Paig-Tran was when she heard that the remains of the 14-foot-long oarfish found off Santa Catalina Island on June 1 would head to Cal State Fullerton for dissection and study.
This marks the second oarfish brought to CSUF to be studied by faculty and students.
Paig-Tran is a CSUF assistant professor of biological science who specializes in marine biology, specifically the bone structures of deep-sea fishes.
"It's arguably the most beautiful fish that I've ever seen," Paig-Tran said. "(They live) in an environment that we just can't reach. That is the most compelling reason to study these things." Continue reading.
